About Tending Practice

Tending Practice is a professional education brand for licensed estheticians who want to work more holistically. It offers continuing education courses and workshops rooted in Ayurveda, herbalism, advanced bodywork, and the practitioner skills that deepen every session.

Licensed estheticians — whether you've been practicing for two years or twenty. If you're drawn to integrative, whole-person care and want education that reflects that, Tending Practice was built for you.

Tending Practice was founded by Joann Schermerhorn — licensed esthetician, Ayurvedic Health Counselor, clinical herbalist, and yoga and sound healing practitioner with over 20 years of experience across clinical, spa, and holistic wellness settings.
Courses & Workshops

Current curriculum pillars include: Ayurvedic facials, marma point therapy, advanced facial massage (myofascial, lymphatic, structural lifting, gua sha, cupping), herbalism for skin, kansa wand massage, and holding space in the treatment room. More topics are in development.

In-person workshops in Kansas City, live virtual workshops open nationally, self-paced online courses, and multi-day intensives. Each offering will specify its format clearly.

Not currently. Tending Practice courses are professional development education — they are not approved for state board CE credit hours at this time. CE approval is being explored for future offerings. Waitlist members will be notified if and when that changes.

No. Courses are designed to meet you where you are. Entry-level and continuing education workshops will be clearly labeled. You bring your license and your curiosity — everything else will be taught.

Yes. Virtual workshops and self-paced online courses will be available to estheticians across the U.S. In-person workshops and intensives are based in Kansas City.

Yes — the Tending Practice Collective is a free Facebook community for holistic estheticians. It's a space to ask questions, share practice wins, and find colleagues who care about the same things you do. You can find the link on the Community page.

Not at this time. Tending Practice focuses exclusively on group education — courses, workshops, and community. Individual coaching is not currently offered.
